FRN Summit will be focusing on how to reduce food waste in businesses, homes and institutions. These three discussions will allow community members, business people and students to collaborate on food waste issues. Attendees will then be able to bring their thoughts and new ideas back to campus, business and community.
This Summit will feature leaders in the food recovery community in Colorado who will share what it means to be socially sustainable and how to make a positive impact in your community. According to Hunger Free Colorado, 1 in 11 Coloradans struggle with hunger; therefore, it is more important than ever to work together to ensure food recovery in our community. This Summit will provide the space and resources needed to start an FRN Chapter and lead the charge to fight hunger and feed people.
Join us for a discussion with current FRN chapters and others interested in getting involved in the movement. At this summit we will address issues of food insecurity and food waste and how we as students can help alleviate this through food recovery. We will also have community leaders speaking about their work and how it relates to food issues. After the summit, we will have a volunteer opportunity at a local organization for those interested!
FRN and Regional Outreach Coordinators, Elena and Lizzie will host community members as well as current and prospective FRN chapter members at this regional summit. Experts will present panels and facilitate conversation in six breakout sessions. Following the event participants will be encouraged to join in a local volunteer opportunity.
