Communications & Program Engagement Fellow (2018-2020)

Food Recovery Network (FRN) is seeking a motivated person dedicated to continuous learning to join our National team for a two-year Fellowship as our Communications and Program Engagement Fellow (Communications Fellow). FRN is in an exciting moment in time: our movement is growing at a rapid pace, we’re creating new programming to further advance our goal of ensuring that food recovery is the norm across the country, and we’re hosting events that bring together a diverse array of people. The Communications Fellow is at the heart of all of this activity, ensuring we capture the moments in blog posts, pictures, videos, and campaigns to tell the world about the positive impact of our thousands of student leaders across the country.

Applications accepted on a rolling basis.

Americorps vista: program research & outreach

Year two of the Research & Outreach VISTA will build upon the foundation laid in year one: a research model and newly created resources to adapt to other communities in other states where FRN is not currently located or currently has minimal reach. This VISTA will focus research and outreach on four specific regions to support FRN’s larger goal of increasing its impact to feed more food-insecure individuals and families while also reducing unnecessary food waste.

Americorps vista: food recovery verification

The FRV VISTA will work with FRN’s Program Department and Executive Department to strengthen the foundation of how we process applications, the level of support we provide to clients, and to ensure we are testing our quality control measures. FRN has only begun to touch the surface of what it means to outreach the FRV program to our larger community of businesses. As more and more businesses beyond the higher education sector connect to inquire how they can also get involved with the recovery movement, FRN has realized that the time is now to build off of this momentum to reduce waste and feed more people in even more substantial and far-reaching ways.

Americorps vista: alumni programs

The Alumni VISTA will support FRN’s Student & Alumni Advisory Board (SAAB) and will identify alumni and coordinate opportunities to engage alumni through digital communication and in-person meetings. The VISTA will support students at FRN Official Chapters and Chapters In Progress to strengthen and establish their food recovery programs through remote communication (phone calls, emails, etc).

Americorps vista: program evaluation

The Program Evaluation VISTA will work with Food Recovery Network’s (FRN) Program Team to strengthen FRN’s processes for collecting data and analyzing metrics. The Program Evaluation VISTA will collaborate closely with the Communications and Development teams to better communicate FRN’s data-driven stories. The Program Evaluation VISTA will play an integral part in the implementation of program improvements, such as the new student portal and improved food tracking forms.
